Shahrukh Khan: Hrithik Roshan is best Superhero

While his fans and masses at large are desperately waiting for “Ra. One” which will mark the debut of King Khan as a superhero, he on the other hand feels he is not the best. According to Shahrukh Khan the best superhero of all times is Hrithik Roshan.

SRK feels that Hrithik is much better than Batman, Spiderman and Superman of Hollywood, and he is not only best but also best-looking superhero.

We must also point out that recently Shahrukh and Hrithik fell apart as Shahrukh didn’t invite Duggu to his party where almost every other Bollywood celebrity was present, and now praising him in public like this, it could be once again the usual way of SRK to reconcile.

Shah Rukh Khan is not superstitious

All through the IPL, Shah Rukh Khan has been sporting rings and a string of beads that have fuelled speculation that he's wearing them for good health and for luck for his IPL team.

However, during SRK's Thursday visit to Delhi, for the match between his Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils, TOI learnt that there is no superstitious streak in King Khan.

A source close to the actor insists, "He has never been a believer of these things. The problem occurs when he is gifted such things by friends and relatives. Phir woh pehen leta hai, so that they are not offended or hurt. Shah Rukh doesn't like to hurt anybody's sentiments, especially when they are wishing him well and are praying for him. And no, his wife Gauri has not gifted him that emerald ring, as reported."

Hrithik, SRK inspire Madhavan

Actor R Madhavan is having the best time of his career.

After the success of Tanu Weds Manu the actor is looking forward to do something that he hasn't done before.

You might have seen him in romantic and comic roles but the actor is now bored of playing the same kind of roles. Madhavan wants to do something that Hrithik Roshan has done in Krissh and now Shah Rukh Khan is doing in his forthcoming film Ra.One. The actor wants to play a superhero which he hasn't done in any of his films.

Karan Johar pens 'perfect' role for buddy Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan's role in the next Dharma Productions' film Student of The Year being directed by Karan Johar has finally been written. The film has been in the writing for a long time because Karan could not sketch the SRK character well enough.

In the recent FICCI Frames Convention, Karan realised the ability of his superstar friend when he scored more brownie points than Hugh Jackman. This made him quickly write down the character sketch of his hero.

Karan also ensured that Alia Bhatt-Mahesh Bhatt's younger daughter and Varun Dhawan-David Dhawan's son have a great co star to work with. Looks like Karan wants his film to strengthen his relationship with other prominent camps in Bollywood.

SRK flaunts a grey stubble!

On Thursday afternoon, actor Shah Rukh Khan, 45, came to the Capital sporting a grey stubble, among other things. A string of beads dangling loosely from his left hand, the actor sauntered in at the ITC Maurya hotel to cheer for his team Kolkata Knight Riders, who played against the Delhi Daredevils later that evening in the city’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

Reported as his newfound lucky charm, the bead-string drew much attention, but not more than his salt-and-pepper look.

The actor also wore an emerald green ring on his right hand and a pair of black shades. His signature reading glasses with red hinges rested on his cleave.

Shah Rukh had last created ripples with his unkempt long locks, a look he revealed in the capital while shooting for his forthcoming film, Don 2, in February.

Now, though, he seems to have discovered his ‘grey’ streak, which he had sported earlier in the hit 2007 film, Chak De! India.

Aamir was impressed with I AM; I am trying to get SRK to see the film" - Juhi Chawla

The year was 1989/1990. The place was Film City. The occasion was my first trip Mumbai's Film City. Thanks to my neighbour, Suresh Desai, he was the production in charge for Ramesh Sippy Films back then who got me and my family to visit the real world of the reel world. Suresh uncle was our guide for the day and I recall his small cameo in the Rishi Dimple starrer Saagar. Unfortunately, that day, he informed us that only Govinda was present in Film City along with two new comers Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla. I was keen to meet Govinda and so was my family but to reach his sets, we had to pass through the sets of Tum Mere Ho. I recall my school days when everyone in my class, including myself, thought that they were the next 'Aamir Khan', and there he was filming a scene with his co-star who wasn't to be seen. I waited for a while and soon an angel figure walked down the lush green grass. Suresh uncle whispered in my ears saying, 'That's Juhi Chawla, the one who was in QSQT, remember?' I smiled. She was busy preparing for he take when I saw that million dollar smile of hers. Its two decades later and I receive a call on my mobile saying 'Juhi Chawla calling'. I've always believed that if you are precise in your thoughts, it's not the lines you say that are important - it's what exists between the lines. And just when you thought that the actress was only getting busier by the day with her IPL team KKR, you see a whiff of her latest I Am teaser trailer. But it's only when I got to see I AM last week (thanks to friends and colleagues Sanjay Suri and Onir), I again found out her two decade old precious possession: Juhi displaying her uncanny ability to hint at the hidden depths within a character who could, in other hands, be little more than a superficial adjunct to the plot. On screen, she possesses a rare combination of luminescence and a mastery of fine distinction, expressing internal conflict with a slight twist of the mouth; conveying a sense of deep emotion through the merest flicker of the eyes. By the end of our conversation, I AM made to feel special by Juhi Chawla when she laughs and quotes in same breath, 'Bus karo meri taarif karna'. It's 8pm and I AM still singing her praises.

"I AM has become a landmark in movie business"

Now when we look back, no one really knew how it all started. It has culminated into a massive movement of sorts. I'm quite amazed by the fact that a fully funded film by the audiences has today become a landmark in movie business. Full credit to Onir and Sanjay Suri to bring the best talents together under one film. We've taken I AM to festivals across the globe and the audiences have given very good and honest reactions to the film. It's not a film where you'll say, 'I had a great time'. It's not that kind of a film. It's more impactful and leaves you talking about it for hours after you've left the cinema halls.

"One thing that Kashmir hasn't lost is its natural beauty"

It's the first time in my life where I spent the entire one week in Srinagar. All this while I hadn't gone there. But I vaguely recall that we had shot a song there during my Sultanat days. But that time I was too young to remember how Kashmir was back then. To be honest, we didn't discuss about what the current situation of Kashmir as we were busy shooting the film and were on tight budgets not to lose any days. But one definitely felt it. There is tourism happening over there but very scarce. The infrastructure has taken the beating but one thing that Kashmir hasn't lost is its natural beauty. I remember taking loads of pictures from my camera while I was there. It's that beautiful.

"I like films that have stories to tell and stories that are engaging"

I have done more commercial films in my film career but I can't be unrealistic and at this stage and age say that I'll be a part of only independent cinema because that'll be too few and far between. I took this film because I had worked with Onir before and the moment I liked the first draft of the script, I decided to give it a thumbs up. I like films that have stories to tell and those stories need to be engaging more than entertaining. If something more commercial comes my way, I'm happy to do that too.

"Today if Udaan and I AM makes money, we will give birth to encouraging producers"

I do pose this question to many of the production people I meet that why they do not hesitate to produce a seventy to eighty crore film with a bigger star cast even when they are not sure how the script is or what the script is. But they will back off when it comes to two to three crore films. To market anything today, you need to add on at least two to three crores on top of your films shooting budget and to recover that money will still remain a question mark. Today if Udaan makes money and if I AM makes money, we will give birth to encouraging producers.

"All I knew of Manisha Koirala was what I had read in the magazines"

I was very happy when I came to know that I will be sharing screen space with Manisha Koirala because I felt that the casting had become wonderful. Manisha looks her part. When you cast the right actors, half your battle is won. Manisha doesn't just look like a Muslim Kashmiri girl but has acted with such flair that you tend to believe that she is one. Yes, we have been contemporaries in Bollywood but haven't got to know each other beyond that. All I knew of Manisha Koirala was what I had read in the magazines and here, after so many years, I was getting a chance to work with her. Earlier there was a bit of rivalry amongst heroines but now none of that matters. She is a very chilled out person.

"My heart starts to flutter seeing my team KKR each time I go to the stadium"

When I enter the stadium to watch my team KKR play, I am not at all chilled out. I get the shivers sometimes. My heart does start to flutter. It happens in all the matches I go to see. Yes, my husband and I invested in the KKR team but beyond that it had a lot to do with Jay - my husband and Shah Rukh who look after management. Now we have a professional set up looking after all of this. I am not that good a business woman (laughs).

I was afraid to ask Aamir the questions after he saw I AM

Aamir didn't discuss the film with me. Yes, he was impressed after watching it which one could make out. On the flip side, I was afraid to ask Aamir the questions after he saw I AM. My other friend SRK, well, I told him to spare some time out of his busy 38 hours work schedule to see my film I AM. Now, I am trying to get him to see the film (laughs) and receive some honest feedback.

"Whatever roles Sanjay plays, in a quiet kind of a way he really stretches his boundaries"

Sanjay Suri is a very nice person. I have worked with him before but whenever I meet him, he is a thorough gentleman. He is very brave and that's what I like about Suri. I was amazed when Sanjay took the film My Brother Nikhil when everyone else was busy into their commercially accepted cinema. Whatever roles he does, in a quiet kind of a way he really stretches his boundaries.

Anubhav Sinha refuses to shoot with SRK

Not many would turn down an offer to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. But that’s exactly what filmmaker Anubhav Sinha did during the shooting of Chammak chalo…, a song picturised on Kareena Kapoor at Yash Raj Studios for RA.One. Khan wanted Sinha to make a fleeting appearance in the song from his upcoming production.

During the shoot, Anubhav overheard Khan trying to pick a suit from half a dozen costumes. But it was when he overheard Khan saying, “This colour will look good on Anubhav”, that he realised he was being duped into making an appearance.
“In no time, I had five to six people trying to convince me to do the shoot. And Shah Rukh was also telling me, ‘Anubhav, don’t worry. Bahut mazaa aayega… (it will be great fun)’ But I’m a very bad actor. I can’t stand in front of camera to save my life. Many will give their right arm to be in the frame with Shah Rukh, but I won’t let anything spoil the frame he is in, not even myself,” says Anubhav, who ran away from the sets to avoid facing the camera.

The director recalls how his first brush with acting ended in a disaster. “During a sequence I was shooting in my initial days in the entertainment industry, I needed to take an over-the-shoulder shot of two people. So I got hold of a production boy and since I couldn’t find anyone else, I stood in the frame. But I just couldn’t stop laughing,” he says.

Meanwhile, Anubhav also rubbishes claims that Shah Rukh is secretly trying to rope in international stars like Lady Gaga or Shakira to sing for RA.One. “I don’t know where such talks originate came from. Shah Rukh keeps bumping into these stars. But besides Akon, I don’t think any other international artiste is being roped in,” he says.

SRK to support Karim Morani?

With Karim Morani's name being dragged in the 2G scam, will his association with SRK and also the launch of his daughter be affected?

Bollywood producer Karim Morani's name has surfaced in the ongoing 2G scam. He is amongst the five people named in a supplementary charge-sheet filed by the CBI in the 2G scam trial. Who is Karim Morani you ask? He has produced films like Arjun, Damini, Raja Hindustani, Dum and is presently the executive producer on Shah Rukh Khan's much ambitious film Ra.One . He also has stakes in Shah Rukh Khan's IPL cricket team Kolkota Knight Riders. Also his event management company is popular for organizing Bollywood shows and world tours of stars.

Karim's daughter Zoa Morani will soon be making her Bollywood debut in the film Always Kabhi Kabhi produced under Shah Rukh's Red Chillies banner. With Karim Morani's name being dragged in the 2G scam, there were speculations if it would affect his association with SRK and also the launch of his daughter.

While both parties have not commented anything since it's a legal matter now, sources insist that Zoa's film won't be affected by this and Shah Rukh would continue to support his longtime friend.

No SRK, Karan wants Salman!

The last time Salman Khan worked on a Dharma Productions' film was in the college love saga Kuch Kuch Hota Hai way back in 1998.

After thirteen years, a bad fight with Dharma loyalist Shah Rukh and a couple of comeback hits Wanted and Dabangg, the original bad boy of Bollywood seems to have got a second chance with Karan Johar's production house.

The ice probably broke when KJo asked Salman to be a part of his talk show. The actor agreed to do so for a price, they had to make a donation to his foundation. Though the filmmaker denied paying up for a celebrity on his show back then, he approached the Khan for the next Dharma venture to be directed by Rensil D'Silva.

Considering KJo's association with his favourite Shah Rukh and Salman's disassociation with the King Khan, this piece of news should have been surprising. However, with the filmmaker stretching his professional interests beyond his favourite Khan with Varun Dhawan starring in his next directorial venture Student Of The Year, the filmmaker approaching the other Khan becomes understandable.

According to a source, "After Kurbaan, Rensil is directing a fantasy-action caper on the lines of Ocean's Eleven. When Karan Johar heard the script, he absolutely fell in love with it. Both Karan and Rensil felt Salman was perfect for the main part."

I want to emulate SRK: Manish Tulsiyani

Despite being from a small town of Bikaner, Rajasthan, this new kid on the block on television, Manish Tulsiyani, has bigger aspirations and dreams.

Having bagged the lead role in one of the TV shows " Chhajje-Chhajje Ka Pyar", Manish says that his dream is somewhat realised. "But I still have a long way to go. I have been in Mumbai since last three years and trying to make a mark in the entertainment industry. Since my childhood, I had a dream of becoming famous. My father has a textile business and he wanted me to join his business and support him. But I had other ideas," says Manish.

The young actor feels fortunate to have grabbed a lead role in a TV show so early in his career. "There are a lot of people who come to Mumbai to do acting and make a mark in either films or television. But veryu few succeed. At least, by God's grace, I have managed to get a start and hopefully, things will only improve from here on," he says.

Now that Manish has stepped into the world of television, his next aim is Bollywood. "But for that I know I will have to do a lot of hard work. My idols from the film industry are Shah Rukh and Hrithik and I'd love to emulate them," says Manish excitedly.

Since Shah Rukh Khan is Manish's idol since his childhood days, Manish got inspired when he watched Shah Rukh's blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge". "I was so excited when I saw the movie. So much so that I wrote a love letter to a girl who was my classmate and I used to like her a lot. Thankfully, she didn't complain to the principal and nothing seriously bad happened to me," smiles Manish.

SRK keeps a safe distance

Wonder what’s stopping Shah Rukh Khan from promoting a 76-minute film under his banner. Call it the pressure of wrapping up his most ambitious project ever (Ra. One), getting plans in place for his home production (Always Kabhi Kabhi) or sheer aversion to the latest production from his company, Shah Rukh seems to have distanced himself from Men Will Be Men.

King Khan, who is known for his marketing strategies and having a sharp business acumen, has shockingly stayed away from any promotions for this film. Men Will Be Men is a 76-minute film under SRK’s banner which is due for release this Friday. Considering all the hype he generates around his films, it is quite surprising to see him not talk about it. “It is seeing a totally silent release and no one has any clue what the film is all about. Why Shah Rukh is keeping a distance from his own film is indeed quite puzzling. For someone who started the trend of going all out for his films since the days of Don — The Chase Begins Again, an apparent lack of interest in Men Will Be Men is baffling,” says an industry source.

The film is not even presented as a Red Chillies film. The banner mentioned on the forefront is an Idiot Box film, which is another arm of Red Chillies. “No one knows what really prompted Shah Rukh to stay away from the film, but one reason could be that he may have wanted to stay away from such surrogate advertising,” says a trade source adding, “For all you know, this could just be a short film made for TV and the makers are experimenting to test waters with a big screen release.”

Whatever be the reason, the fact remains that Men Will Be Men won’t quite have expected such a release for itself especially, after Shah Rukh’s name being attached with the project. Even the credit rolls mention Samar Khan as the executive producer, which makes Shah Rukh’s distance very clear. Well, men will be men after all.

SRK and I have great on-screen chemistry: Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal, who plays RA.One in Anubhav Sinha’s superhero fantasy of the same name, says that he’s extremely excited about performing stunts on his own. “The action sequences look fantastic. I’ve worked hard and enjoyed doing all the stunts by myself,” he beams.

The actor, who re-shot to fame with Housefull and Raajneeti last year, has been closely involved with the film’s post-production too, ensuring that he spends a couple of hours whenever possible with the technical team working on it.

The National-Award winner is quite fond of super hero films. “Batman in The Dark Night is an all-time favourite. Unlike other superheroes, he’s human, born without super powers,” says Arjun. “I think it’s cooler to be human with some flashy gadgets that help save the world.”

When asked if his character in RA.One is anything like Batman or Superman, without divulging any details, he says, “RA.One has super powers. I can’t speak beyond this because I’m contractually bound to not give away information before the publicity campaign flags off.”

Arjun Rampal has earlier played a villain with RA.One’s superhero and producer, Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. “Shah Rukh and I have great on-screen chemistry. Hopefully, this time, it will be better than Om Shanti Om. I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” says the actor adding that his daughters, Mahikaa and Myra, can’t wait for RA.One to release. “They ask me reasons why it’s taken so long in the making. I try to make them understand that large-canvas films like RA.One take a while to get ready.”
Arjun, who rides a bike in the movie, admits his wife Mehr, and his mother, detest bikes. “Since they don’t like motorbikes, I didn’t buy one to this day. But now, I’m happy with my new Hyosung Superbike,” he smiles. “Till the film releases, I’ll entertain my daughters by taking them out for drives.”

St Stephen girl is script writer for SRK's Ra.One

St Stephen college graduate Kanika Dhillon's story was clichéd – girl from Amritsar comes to Delhi college for graduation, heads to UK ( London School of Economics) for further education and then lands a plum job in an MNC.

Everything was as 'normal' as it could be, except that Kanika hated the word 'normal'. She'd had Bollywood aspirations since she was 17, but her parents wanted her to finish conventional education first. As soon as Kanika finished her degree in the UK, she picked the phone, called her parents and told them that she's headed to Mumbai. Now, five years later, she is the Creative Content Head at Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chilies Entertainment, and is also one of the script writers for his next magnum opus "Ra. One". Excerpts from a chat:

How did your parents react when you came to Mumbai?
They didn't entertain the idea of me going to Bollywood and asked me to finish my education first. So, when I finally called them after getting a job in London, they thought I'd lost my mind. For months they told everyone that I was overworked and was taking a break in Mumbai.

Why Bollywood – after such a plethora of degrees in your kitty?
I wanted to be in Bollywood since I was 17. I always wanted to tell stories, to write some and be a filmmaker, and here I am now.

Has your story in Mumbai been filmy?
Yes, completely. I started at the bottom of the filmy food chain, which included getting print outs for my seniors and I must say it's been a roller coaster ride emotionally. Before coming to India, I'd told my parents that there's only one person I want to work with and that's Shah Rukh Khan. If I didn't get to work with him, I'd go back to London. First thing in Mumbai, I went to the Red Chilies office with a couple of short stories and met the CEO Mr Chawla.

He liked my stories but told me that I can't just come with a story and become a writer. He said you have to start assisting first and see how it goes from there. So, that's how I got my first job. Slowly and steadily, I started doing better profiles and finally got to interact with SRK. He saw my potential and I landed my next few assignments, which included "Billu" and now " Ra.One". It's all filmy.

So, is your debut novel "Bombay Duck is a Fish", which also is about a Bollywood aspirant meeting SRK, autobiographical in nature?

No. The whole plot is fictional, even though there are a lot of motivations and inspirations from real people I met. But it's not my story. I gave a copy of the book to SRK yesterday and have also dedicated it to him.

SRK completes Ra.One

SRK's much-talked about project Ra.One, it seems, is finally complete and the actor also has many marketing and promotional strategies in his mind.

On Sunday, Khan saw the final cut of the expensive sci-fi, superhero flick in his private theatre, along with the film's director Anubhav Sinha and also discussed how he'd like to go about the promotions.

Anubhav revealed in an online post on Sunday night, "Long day with SRK on marketing promotion and what not. By the way, we also saw the whole film in his private theatre and felt happy about it." As Anubhav says that they felt happy about it, it seems there won't be any re-shoots done.

Kajol, Rani and Bipasha Aid SRK and KKR in the IPL (Humour)

HUMOR — Shah Rukh Khan is at the end of his tether.

Nothing—absolutely nothing—will convince Dada fans that SRK loves Sourav Ganguly (and Bengalis), and that’s why he let him go.

Slashing the price of tickets for forthcoming KKR games has not quite had the desired effect, as evidenced by fan reaction on the team website.

Can Shakira be the catalyst for a revival?

A video with the Latin American songstress is the latest trick up SRK’s sleeve.

But there’s a little problem, you see: Shakira’s not Bengali.

Dada fans don’t seem to understand.

Why do they harp on Ganguly’s absence?

Surely ,there are other Bengalis playing the game.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Shami Ahmed, Manoj Tiwari and Shreevats Goswami are locally bred.

And if that's not good enough, they have Shakib Al Hassan, the Bengali wonder from across the border.

Maybe Mirpur is where KKR should hold all their games. The Bangladeshi captain is a top draw and can ensure a full house.

What SRK ought to do is call on his filmi contacts to bail him out.

SMSes to Kajol, Rani Mukherjee and Bipasha Basu requesting them to throw their weight behind the team is the need of the hour.

What if SRK jettisons local KKR talent and field the trio as representing the best of Bengali pride?

Rani’s cricket training and regimen for “Dil Bole Hadippa” will be more than useful.

Bipasha Basu is supremely fit and must be raring to go following her recent breakup with John Abraham.

As for Kajol, she can reprise her tomboy role from “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” on the field.

If it’s star power that SRK needs, he knows just whom to rope in.

SRK, Juhi Chawla to build a cricket stadium

As far as the close buddies Juhi and SRK are concerned, the collaboration does not end with owning KKR and that of Dreamz Unlimited: a production house jointly owned by Shahrukh, Juhi Chawla and the producer Aziz Mirza. The friendship between the two has taken on another productive dimension with SRK joining hands with Juhi and her better half Jai Mehta to erect a cricket stadium. The proposed stadium will be built in Porbander. Apart from its association with Mahatma Gandhi, Porbandar is also the native place of Jay Mehta.

Consequently, the collaborating partners decided on it. The stadium to take after the name of Jay Mehta’s grandfather as Nanji Kalidas stadium will be centered on the existing Duleep cricket ground.

Regarding the construction of the proposed structure SRK in collaboration with the Mehtas have struck a deal with the local cricket association. In the initial phases of construction, batting pitches will be put to shape followed by those of stands and players’ dressing rooms. The expertise of a U.K based company will be taken into account for the construction of outfield and stands. The total expense is estimated at Rs. twelve crore.

SRK and Juhi Chawla’s love for the game together with Jai Mehta’s business acumen make them perfectly deserving to pursue the given venture.

SRK turns singer for Kunal Ganjawalla

Singer Kunal Ganjawalla was in for a pleasant surprise when Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan sang his popular song "Bheege hoth tere" for him recently.

Ganjawalla was in Kolkata for a performance and was invited for an afterparty for the victory of Shah Rukh's Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). As soon as the singer entered, Shah Rukh greeted him by singing a few lines from the song, and introduced him to cricketer Yusuf Pathan and others, as his favourite singer, said a source.

The singer was flattered.

"Shah Rukh bhai's sense of humor is legendary...he has a sharp sense of humour and it is always delightful to meet him. He was in a jubilant mood after the team's great performance and win and he really does like my song 'Bheege hoth', so hearing him sing it as a greeting to me was very cool," he said.

Ganjawalla's other popular songs include "Channa vey" and "Raat ke dhai baje".

SRK takes three-months leave from shooting for KKR

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Sunday said he had taken a three-month vacation from shooting to be with his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team which is in fine fettle in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League.
'I have taken a 3-month off from my shooting schedule. I want to stick with this young team and win and enjoy after every win,' said SRK.
After KKR clinched their third consecutive win in the tournament Sunday, Shahrukh seemed exuberant.
'It really feels great that the senior guys are holding together the entire team. I have just come back from Ajmer sharif. I am praying more and more for the team.
'It feels nice that young kids are playing really well and the entire wins are coming together. Hopefully, we will continue this,' said Shah Rukh, who took a victory lap after his team hammered Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets.
He also expressed his disappointment over various reports during the last three IPL editions which had partially blamed him for the team not doing well.
'I have felt disturbed earlier to read that I have not been able to take the team where it should have been. It's nice to win and I pray that I continue with it,' Shah Rukh said.

SRK-Juhi to develop cricket stadium

Juhi Chawla, hubby Jai Mehta join hands with Shah Rukh Khan to develop a cricket stadium in Porbandar

Juhi Chawla and her husband Jai Mehta along with Shah Rukh Khan have launched an ambitious plan to build a cricket stadium in Porbandar, Gujarat.

The reason why Mahatma Gandhi's birthplace has been selected is because Jai's family has roots there as well.
The Kolkata Knight Riders owners plan to take over the existing Duleep cricket ground in the city and build a state-of-the-art stadium to be named after Nanji Kalidas Mehta -- Jai's grandfather -- in its  place. The Mehtas also have other business interests in the vicinity of Porbandar.

Apart from adding another venue to Gujarat's cricket itinerary, it is also being viewed as a centre where the KKR team can have training camps.

Says a source, "The local district cricket association and Mehta Sports Private Limited recently inked a deal to build the Nanji Kalidas Mehta stadium at a cost of almost Rs 10 crore."

Adds the source, "They have decided on a three-tiered approach. First they plan to make at least 12 pitches, then the dressing rooms and finally the stands. UK-based David Hemstock Associates will develop the outfield and dressing rooms."

The stars remained unavailable for comment but Ranchodbhai Shiyal, president, Porbandar District Cricket Association, confirmed that plans to develop the stadium by the KKR owners were underway.

SRK to take off his shirt if his IPL team reaches the final

Shah Rukh Khan will take off his shirt to show off his abs if his team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, makes it to the Indian Premier League final. "If we reach the final at Chennai, I will take off my shirt, fluff it in the air, and show my six-pack abs... or may be eight-pack abs," King Khan  said after KKR beat Rajasthan Royals. King Khan may be back to his grand IPL team owner ways, but isn't it Salman Khan who is known to remove his shirt?

Meanwhile...

Gauri Khan threw a party on Sunday night to celebrate hubby Shah Rukh Khan's team's victory over Shilpa Shetty's Rajasthan Royals. The usual Khan friends were there including Kajal Anand, Maheep Kapoor, Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Seema Khan, Vikram Phadnis, Bhavna Pandey and Raveena Tandon. With KKR on a winning streak, Missus Khan will be one party-hearty woman.

AKON:It was great working with SRK

The Senalese-American pop star, who will be performing at Gurgaon's Huda Grounds on Saturday — also his 38th birthday — can't stop singing praises for actor Shah Rukh Khan for letting him sing a track in Ra.One. "It was a great experience working with Shah Rukh, and we have become good friends," says the singer-rapper. Ask him if that means Indian films are on the cards, and he says, "One day, if the opportunity presents itself, I'd welcome the chance to star in a Bollywood film!"

Meanwhile, he doesn't mind starring Indian girls in his videos. "Of course (I'm open to it), India has the most beautiful girls in the world," he raves. Prod him for names and ask him if Priyanka Chopra, whom he has met, is one of them, and he plays safe. "Well, not sure. Bollywood is full of so many beautiful women!"

The singer, whose India tour is being organised by Suniel Shetty's NGO and Netsurf Entertainment, says he loves all the drama in Hindi cinema. "I enjoy the dance and music in Bollywood films, but no, I have no particular favourite," he says.

Shahrukh sings ‘Bheege Hont Tere’ for KKR

The Baadshah of Bollywood and celebrity co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shahrukh Khan was on cloud nine when his IPL team won the match against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, at Eden Gardens.

To celebrate the victory of his team, King Khan organized a bash for KKR in Kolkata. Opportunely, crooner Kunal Ganjawala was also in Kolkata on the D-day and he too was invited by SRK for the party.

Known for his magnetic persona and exceptional ways of entertaining, Shahrukh bowled over everyone at the party by singing 'Bheege Hont Tere', the moment singer Kunal turned up at the party venue.

In a conversation with the media, a source said, "Kunal was in Kolkata when SRK threw the party and he invited him. But little did Kunal know that a surprise awaits him. Kunal's song Bheege Hoth Tere is one of his most popular numbers and as soon as he entered the party, SRK greeted him by singing the song himself".

Shahrukh was so elated about his team's success that he didn't mind turning a singer for KKR during the celebrations.

The source said, "SRK is not a great singer. But when he is around his people, he doesn't care. He sung almost the entire song and also got his team members to join him. It was a treat for KKR and also for Kunal. Having SRK croon one of the songs he has sung thrilled him".

SRK upset, as Knight Riders lose to Kochi

The Tuskers came stomping at Eden Gardens and created quite a stampede, steamrolling the Knights, stopping them short in their victory march on Wednesday.

Surprisingly, Team Kochi had a lot of supporters present at Eden. Seen on the stands were the hot Sen sisters, Riya and Raima, and Shah Rukh Khan with kids Aryan and Suhana. Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin also dropped in to catch the match.

Wearing similar tees with 'Dada' and 'SRK' printed on the back, were friends and supporters Avishek, Bithi, Rup, Tanmoy and Sanju. "We know that Dada and SRK are not together but we are optimistic that some day they will again come together to create magic," said Avishek. Also present were some students from IIM Calcutta. However, after the home team lost to Team Kochi on home turf, SRK was seen standing alone on the grounds before the presentation

ceremony. "It is part of the game and Gambhir's boys have been performing quite well till now," said Raj, who had come with his friends, Shyam, Gaurav, Nitin and Vikrant. All
hinting at: 'the show must go on, no matter what'.

Meet Shah Rukh Khan's Lucky Mascot

Shah Rukh Khan adds one more to his entourage. While his regular actor buddies are accompanying him to all the Indian Premier League matches his team the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) play, entrepreneur-turned-actor Sachiin Joshi now joins that exclusive list.

A source said, "SRK and Sachiin have been great friends for some time now. He was present at all the matches KKR played last year. But this year, shooting commitments kept him away. When Sachiin ventured into the energy drink market, it was Shah Rukh who helped him launch it. The young man is making his B-Town acting debut with a thriller titled Aazaan and SRK has been a great support."

Sachiin said, "I know Shah Rukh through common friends. He has been supporting my brand as a friend though we have no official contract with him as the brand ambassador. It was generous of him to launch the product. I am fortunate to get an invite from him to attend his KKR matches. He is a great man to know!"

Don’t think it was a revenge, says SRK

Chris Gayle might have chosen his former team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for his brutal onslaught, at the Eden Gardens, but KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan lavished praise on the Jamaican opener on Friday.

"Gayle has played really well. His was an exceptional innings," he said, on the sidelines of a promotional after the match. "But, I don't consider that he took revenge on us or anything. He is a great player and I wish him the best," he added.

The mega-star is overwhelmed by the way the home crowd is supporting his team. A nearly-packed stadium cheered for the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden on Friday.

"The way the crowd is cheering for us is simply mind-blowing. The fact that the team is getting home support is really heart-warming," he said

KKR have suddenly hit a slump after a hattrick of victories. But Shah Rukh is optimistic about his team making the last four.

"It's little disappointing losing two matches on the trot, but I don't think that will stop us from reaching the semi-finals.

"However, losing points in home matches mean we'll have to do really good in the away matches and the competition will get tougher from here on," he said.

Shahrukh promotes Matrix Forex Card

It's a booming time for the Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, as his Kolkata Knight Riders team is full of zeal during this ongoing IPL 4 season.
Not only this, SRK, who is on a three-month break from Bollywood to be with his team, will now be seen on a currency card called Matrix Forex Card that is being launched by KKR's main sponsor, Matrix.
Talking about the commercial, director Kabir Sadanand of Frog unlimited said, "Given Matrix and SRK's connect with the Indian Premier League we have woven in the cricket angle into these commercials. The first one has Shahrukh and some of the KKR players and the second is with the team alone."
"Shahukh is projected as a cool dude who is smart about his money and shows others how to handle it well," he added.
Gitanjali is KKR's latest sponsor
Adding to the already long list of sponsors for KKR, Shahrukh Khan and the Gitanjali Group made a public announcement of joining hands on Friday.
Present with his entire team, the superstar said, "I am very happy to have Gitanjali Lifestyle join the KKR family. ON behalf of the team I would like to thank our partners for these wonderful golden helmets that symbolize the fire we have, to prove ourselves this year."
Faith shown by Gitanjali will encourage team, says SRK
He added that the faith shown by the jewelry brand will help in motivating the team to work harder and play well.
Gitanjali also offered golden helmets to all the KKR team members, as a symbol of good luck for their upcoming matches.
"We are very pleased and proud to announce our association as the jewelry partner with the Kolkata Knight Riders. We hope that these golden helmets prove to be good luck charms and help them in their endeavor to emerge as winners at IPL," said Nishit Mehta, President Gitanjali Group.

Shahrukh Khan stopped Tweeting as people have agenda with their words

As we all know that Shahrukh Khan has been avoiding the Twitter like a plague after a lot of things went wrong in his personal life and apparently relationships also soured over a few comments. Thus he decided to swear off the networking site for good. However, when recently he was asked about it in an interview, he said that since people always have agenda to their words he decide to walk away.
Shahrukh Khan is also happy with the way things have turned up for Kolkata Knight Riders and he hopes that this time his team would surely take the coveted cup Home. In the interview to Times of India, when asked as to why controversies have been a part of the franchise SRK was very diplomatic. He said that given the profile of the Franchise this is bound to happen and that he remains unfazed by the controversies.
The actor was however upset regarding the fact that things did not work out between the team and Sourav Ganguly and he was happy with the way that the team is working this Season. He is also happy that the people of Kolkata has forgiven him and everyone is thronging Eden Gardens again.

Talking about his Twitter Account he said that since he works he feels that he has to be vocal with his fans but somehow that is not working at all. Further adding he said, "I am somebody who leads life the most natural way. When I work I need to connect with people, so I come out and talk. I was using twitter to make myself vocal. But people kept saying things. The world has become such now that everything has an agenda to it. So I walked away."

Shah Rukh Khan’s briefs: to show or not to show

FOR

1) His team’s theme song goes We are hot... and the KKR owner literally wears it on his undies, er, sleeve. He does look smoking hot!

2) The KKR owner also croons ‘We are cool...’ in the video. And we do admit his peek-a-boo ishtyle is pretty cool! The turban-with-a-twist in Jaipur followed by this dare bare at Eden Gardens...

3) With such washboard abs, SRK has every right to show it off, below the (missing) belt.

4) SRK plays a superhero in Ra.One. And in the true-blue superman tradition, he sure can let them pop out now and then. He can even wear them inside out!

AGAINST

1) “Undergarments and/or innerwear are by their very nomenclature expected to be ‘under’ and ‘in’ our outer clothes,” says lingerie expert and t2 columnist Swati Gautam. Shah Rukh, are you listening?

2) It wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction, but it almost became one. King Khan’s jeans came dangerous close to slipping off his hips, with no belt to hold them up.

3) SRK or no SRK, this looks more sloppy than sexy.

All eyes on SRK

BEAT DECCAN CHARGER

Kolkata Knight Riders won their first home match — against the Deccan Chargers — on April 11 but why wasn’t Shah Rukh excited? Was it the lack of local support as the half-empty stadium seemed to scream out? SRK did talk about controversies (read: Sourav) getting to him, but a win was a win. Having lost to Chennai in the opening away game, this was the first victory for Gautam Gambhir’s freshly-baked team. With co-owner (the ever-smiling) Juhi Chawla by his side, SRK quietly walked out into the presentation area and waved to the sprinkling of supporters who had stayed back in the stands. “We owe it to Calcutta, the team is their team,” he said, urging Calcutta to come and support KKR on home turf.

BEAT RAJASTHAN ROYALS

The night the floodgates opened. After a thumping win against the Rajasthan Royals in Rajasthan, Shah Rukh was already on a high and when Gambhir and Co. made mincemeat of Shane Warne’s men at the Eden that Sunday, King Khan switched to party mode. Having prayed right through the match, he ran on to the ground and did a victory parade around the stadium on his own. A hurrah of team hugs later, he played the now-famous SRK-Sunny match that saw Gavaskar making his Eden comeback after decades. Shane Warne joined in and Shah Rukh smashed the legendary leggie to all corners of the park, er, the 30-yard circle. With SRK on a roll, the real action often begins after it’s all over.

LOST TO KOCHI TUSKERS Kerala

Looking straight out of the poster of Swades here, Shah Rukh was in a contemplative mood after KKR lost to Kochi Tuskers Kerala last Wednesday. When Kochi scored just 132, KKR was the favourite to cross the line but as the wickets tumbled, SRK and the rest of the Eden crowd went silent. Despite the kid gang — children Aryan and Suhana and their friends — milling around him, Shah Rukh didn’t hang around after the presentation, leaving the stadium in a sombre mood. He spent the next day at ITC Sonar Calcutta chilling with friends and family, and briefly stepping out for a friendly brand visit.

LOST TO ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

With 171 on the board, Shah Rukh really fancied a KKR win against Team Mallya’s RCB. He went down to the dugout during the break, called Yusuf Pathan (who had scored a 24-ball 46 with an injury) from the middle of the greens and gave him a long, tight hug. He chatted with Wasim Akram and the rest of the support staff and stayed back in the dugout for the start of the Bangalore innings. Then the Gayle hit home. The sixes started raining like missiles and Shah Rukh took cover in the comfort of his cool box. His team was outplayed by an ex-Knight and he was elbowed out of the spotlight by his former co-star. Deepika Padukone’s PDA with Sid Mallya was the talking point even as SRK played out a round of catch-catch with the young ones
